I just recieved my fully secured BofA card!!! How long will it take to unsecure??? Does it matter how much I use it? If I use it more will it unsecure faster?

I've heard it can graduate in 9-12 months.  I just opened a bofa checking account, and will get a secured card with them soon too

Congrats. I heard any where between 9 - 12 months before it becomes unsecure.

I actually have had a secured BOA card for more than two years now. I am a college student with CS of 746. I am debating whether or not to close that account since I have 4 more credit cards right now, and the BOA card is the only one with the annual fee ($29).  But since seeing this post I am wandering if I call Bank of America (my previous employer) and transform this to a regular unsecured account without an annual fee.  Any thoughts?

I have (had!) the BofA secured card.  They graduated me in exactly nine months and sent my deposit back about a week after that.  I didn't even have to ask!

It's  great card and I can't wait until I've had it a little longer.

I had mine for 1 year before they unsecured it.   I did a product change to their WorldPoints Visa card.

I also added $ on a regular basis to increase my CL when it was secured.

If I put 10K on my secured card when it unsecures will it have a 10K limit?

Yes indeed, it should be at least equal to your secured cl.

I am leaning toward getting this card just so that I can build up a card with a high limit.  My high limit cards that I have right now are at 1600 dollars (I have two at this limit) since I got back in the CC game last summer.  I think the minimum deposit is 300 dollars for the BOA secured card.  Can someone correct me if I am wrong???
