Do you have any links to the rumors? I couldn't find anything in a quick google search, but as a college student this definitely appeals to me.

It's a great card to have, but if you know from the jump it doesn't match your lifestyle, save yourself the HP.
+1! You have to spend a ton of money for MR points to be worth much of anything.

I have the Zync and the Gold PRG. The Zync I decided to keep. The Gold I will close in January.
If the Plat comes out w/ a 75-100k offer around Feb-April, I will get it for the sign-up bonus, and then kill it after 1 year.
I spend about $2000 monthly, so I think the Green would fit perfectly, gold & prg seems a bit more out of my league. Plus, the green is like the signature color for Amex, at least that's what I think of.

Here are the rumors I was referring to.
That's very interesting! I am definitely going to have to keep a look out for that!

I keep looking at the green card but I don't even know why! Just to have it I guess! Status wise and I like the look! I'd probably never use it and the perks seem like those which I'd never be able to take advantage of! On top of all that I'm not too fond of annual fees since I don't really spend enough to make it worth it! So what keeps attracting me to this card? Oh, btw, I hate the garden. Its not for me....
My dad used to have one when I was little, and I thought it was a rich person credit card. Plus, it's the OG of all credit cards (except for Diners Club, I know). I wouldn't mind having one, but I'm on the same boat as you--the perks are pretty much useless to me.
Honestly, if you're gonna waste an inquiry, get a CLI on your Freedom, or go for the CSP or the Costco Amex.

I should've apped for the Green first, then the Delta. I'm going to push my luck in 3 months once my new cards age a bit. I just love the look of the Green card though, you can't beat the classy look to it
OP - I agree! I want one bad, but I am waiiiitttinggg. And I want a PRG now that I see you get the 25K points w/$1k spending. Plus we do some traveling and it would be baller status I think to bust that baby out when you're checking into your hotel room
