What is the best way to get back into Amex's good graces and possibly get a card again? This is a charged off Platinum.

First step would be paying off the charge off.

Then, if you have a good amount of money floating around, say, $10K, you can call American Express Centurion Bank (https://personalsavings.americanexpress.com/home.html) for a credit card secured by a $10K certificate of deposit (CD) to their bank. Most, if not all, bank will give you a card if you're willing to deposit enough money.

If you don't then just wait and try to apply every couple of years or so. There's really no other way.

Look up "oasis program" on the search bar. You'll find what you need.

I called Amex and they said that I need to speak to the CA which is Nationwide. Should I proceed with Nationwide or speak to another department at Amex?

This thread probably belongs in the Rebuilding forum, but I believe you have to deal with the CA and not Amex because it was already charged off. The CA probably has a way to help you get into the Oasis program if you qualify. Good Luck.

Re: I want to rehab my Amex account, how do I go about it?

I think this post is already over in the rebuilder's forum, or else someone in the exact same situation with AMEX and Nationwide.  Anyway, it is always preferable to pay the original creditor. Howver, if they have sold the account ot a collection agency, you need to deal with them.. Try to get a PFD and pay it in full if possible.

As far as getting back in with AMEX,  you'll likely have to just wait until your credit has rebounded and you have some positive history. At least if you pay the account in full, even to a CA, you'll still have that as a way to recon a decline with them.

Amex outsources their collections to varies collection agencies, Nationwide one of them. Note that Amex still owns the debt.

I would contact Nationwide and ask to either have your card account reinstated or an invitation for the Optima Card in exchange for payment. Note that for any of these offers would require full payment due and not a settlement.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Note the "secured card program" is basically a pilot program and is by invitation only.
