Has anyone ever had any experiences with IBM Southeast Employees' Federal Credit Union? My mom opened an account with me there in 1995, and I know getting a credit card with a CU is supposed to be a much better experience than that with any other banks. So if anyone has ever dealt with this CU please share any experiences you had with them, good or bad.
Appreciate the help,
Jared

HI!!!
I've never heard of them specifically..Try searching the CU name on the boards or check whogavemecredit.com I agree CU credit cards are a little easier to get as I don't have an account with them but I don't have a credit card with my local credit union, and a loc with them as well..They were fairly easy seeing that I had a past BK

I can tell you that I USED to be with them. As far as credit unions go they are nothing special.
I was a member of another credit union from about 1990 to 2010 or so. They merged with IBM SE Credit Union around 2008/2009 and the service went downhill while the rates went uphill. They felt more like a regular bank. Fees all over the place, loan rates weren't that great and deposit rates were junk. I switched to Alliant in late 2009 and never looked back. Permanently closed my IBM accounts shortly after.

Alright, thanks for the info. Thats why I asked. It isn't one of the CUs I see mentioned in every other thread like penfed or NFCU, but unfortunately I'm not elligible for them. There's a few credit unions here in gainesville that some of my friends have told me they used, so maybe I'll check them out. Unfortunately Chase wouldn't give anything if my life depended on it, despite having a checking and savings account with them for 5 years, and my other bank Ally doesn't have any credit cards. D:

You can join Alliant or Penfed by becoming a memer of partner organizations. Usually just a $10 fee and the info is available in their signup process. I would encourage you to broaden your scope to credit unions anywhere in the country. Not just the city you live in. Most of them particpiate in a shared branch banking system. It allows you to walk into most any other credit union and make deposits or withdrawals as if it were your own. Same with ATM's.
I think in general you'll find more free ATMs to use with a credit union than most regular banks also. I've been suprised at how many were in gas stations, grocery stores or other general places that were on the CU24 or similar network.

I'll look into joining them. I never knew you could just pay like 15$ to join one of the organizations in order to join one of the more well known CUs. I appreciate all your info. Right now I dont have any issue with ATMs because most of my money is kept in my Ally account which reimburses me for any ATM fee, but I'd love to join a well known CU for their CC benefits.
