Just wanted to share my experience thus far. I applied for a CLI with Amex on my 61 day mark. I was denied due to too short of history with Amex (this is my first card with them so should have waited till at least 6 months to a year I have learned...remember YMMV though). Anyway, when you are denied they give you access to your EX credit report. You can use the link provided to view your credit report for free. I noticed that since opening the account Amex is softing me every month. When I was denied on 02/23, the denial said they were using a report from 02/11. You get 60 days to view the report so I waited until after 03/11 to pull it. Lo and behold on 03/11 they pulled another soft on me and they had done so on 01/11. So I am finding not only is it each month but appears to be regularly on the exact same day. That gives me a bit of insight so that if/when I do ask for another CLI, I can be more strategic on the day I request. Please remember this may not be the case for everyone but I do encourage you to take advantage of the free report as it may provide useful info, not only for Amex but your other creditors.
If you go to Experian.com and go to "review my report again" or something of that sort at the bottom of the home page. You can use this report number to get an updated report any time you want for up to a year. Don't over do it though
Really?!! Hmmm I will have to try that out! Thank you for the additional info!
Having access to the report, is good enough reason alone to ask for the CLI.
I'm going to ask in about 50 days-ish just to see what happens. I'm a new customer as well.

I think the score and the report combo is a good reason to try too Frugal! I wish I had just waited a little longer to give them some more payment and usage history. But hey, I got a report and FICO score as a parting prize! LOL. Anyway if I do try again it will most certainly be after the June/Juy time frame. I am going to wait the full 6 months and not the 90 days after denial.
Oh and Frugal you will get denial at the 50th day....they don't accept requests until you reach day 61. It just kicks you back out of the system. But you can try again as soon as you reach the right day.

I applied on the 3rd, that's why I said 50-ish
I got the card on Monday and already ran up about $1,500 in charges on it. I'm gonna put it in "heavy" rotation the next two months and see if that makes a difference.

Ok. Well be sure to post the results. I always like more info for reference purposes!
Absolutely, by the time I try for the CLI, all my statements will have reported, so it'll work perfectly.
