I called today to threaten to cancel my card since I've had the same $500 limit since 2007. She said they are working on a program that will be rolled out in 2014 where people can request increases and the account will be sent for review. Just so people know "Apparently" CLI's are on the horizon. I kept it open and she was proud of herself but I wasn't really gonna close anyway as it's my oldest account.
Thanks!
I've avoided apping for Target because of low CLs and lack of CLIs.
I'll keep an eye out. They may go back onto my list in 2015.
You could always get the Debit card.
That one still give you the 5% but comes out of your checking accuont a day or two later.

I've had the debit card for about 5 years now. The 5% does save me a considerable amount (over $200) every year. I have not used my Target Debit since the security breach since it's attached to my checking account. But I've also shopped there very little since before the holidays.

If you want a higher CL, the new approvals seem to be getting them. People seem to have luck cancelling the old CC and getting a new one (the newer CCs started with TD Bank also seem more likely to get auto CLIs currently). Of course, that shortens your AAoA, so it might be worth it to just wait for the CLI requests to be available.
I was approved for $1000 this month. I was ~689 on EQ at the time of approval.

Who underwrote them before TD Bank?

Thank you for the info!

Target had its own bank (Target National Bank).

I was online paying my bill today and thinking to myself this $500 limit is pathetic! I'm crossing my fingers that this new program goes into effect.
I've had the credit card since 2008 with no luck getting an increase on my $500 CL in the last couple of years. I use this card all the time and is has come in handy for free shipping on larger furniture pieces. I was just thinking about closing the card and opening a new one seeing some of the larger limit approvals recently. I guess I will hold out and see if anything changes in the next 6 months. In the meantime does anyone have experience with the debit card? I was just wondering if this offered free shipping in addition to the 5% off as well.
