Interesting Cap1 email...

Received an interesting email from Cap 1 today. This is an offer for my QS card, which just received a CLI in January.

I've seen this program for Credit Steps (which this card was originally a part of), but never heard of it happening after. Anyone else seen anything like this?

Re: Interesting Cap1 email...

YUP.  We have a card from 2007, and I remember back in May/June of last year I started getting heavily involved with myfico (didnt pay attention to anything credit card related before then)...And I did a credit limit increase request and it somehow triggered credit steps...for an 8 year old card..... it was strange.  What was even more odd was that my card I opened december 2014, I was scheduled to have a steps increase after 6 statements, I got a CLI in May of 2k, bringing my line to $3000...and In june the steps increase took it to $3500 total.

Now this is the first time I seen this,  They are specifically giving you a dollar amount to pay per month.  I have seen pay on time for 6 months.  Well at least you know exactly to the dollar what is required, lol!

Re: Interesting Cap1 email...

I'm interested to see what happens. I'll pay their prescribed amount, but I'm due for a 6 month increase in June. I'm still going to ask in June. Will report back Smiley Happy

Re: Interesting Cap1 email...

My DW received this in August or July. I am waiting to see how it plays out, because although she made a lower-than-prescribed payment certain months, the average payment will be greater than what they specified.

I believe she's eligible for a customer-initiated CLI soon, so I honestly hope this plan doesn't hit before the chance for that. They would likely count it as a CLI and the clock would start over.
