Is Amazon worth it to you?

(edited to change the correct month from May to June)

I received an instant approval on June 5.

They reported the new account to all 3 bureaus on June 6

I made a charge of $22 on June 7

They reported a balance increase of $22 today.

I have one more charge that I guess they will be reporting tomorrow that makes my uti something like $150/$700

Are they going to do this every time you make a charge or something all through the month?  Now I'm wondering if I ever should have gotten the card

I haven't used mine much since I got it in April. I really don't need it, but I'll keep it since I have already taken the hard pull. And it's nice padding for my utilization. I think I will use Discover for Amazon in the next quarter since it is on the 5% category and with the double cash promo it essentially means 10% back on Amazon.

Nope but why does it matter?  You should be making your decisions based on your needs/wants and not those of others.

I do make my decisions based on my own wants/needs and not those of others.  I don't see where I'm asking anyone here if the card is right for me?!  Where do you get that?

It's just a simple question. I was hoping others might answer that question only because, for all I know being a new Amazon card customer, there might be some good perks that I haven't seen yet.

If you made the Charge on May 7th, today is June 10th.  That looks like normal reporting to me as it is over a month...  Don't you have your 1st statement yet?

Re: Is Amazon worth it to you?

The first month was a little weird for me too.

I made the first purchase the same time I apped using the promo offer, and it reported a $68 balance.

I paid it instantly, and when the next statement rolled around it posted a $0 balance.

Second month I made purchases and paid before the posting date and it reported a $0 balance.

Long story short, after the first month, its business as usual.

Re: Is Amazon worth it to you?

Synchrony can be wacky when it's first reporting. They, like Barclays, will report an account immediately to the bureaus. When your account is updated with a balance, it'll report again when it's seemingly the chosen closing date for that account...and you used it around that time. It shouldn't report twice in a month going forward though. Beware, it can still report a balance if put on a card a day or two after closing. Most other cards will report the balance at closing.

Re: Is Amazon worth it to you?

Assuming we are talking about Synchrony/Amazon and not Chase/Amazon...

Yes, now that the 5% cash back is in place it's definitely worth "it" for anyone who shops on Amazon already and was a Prime member.  Worth "It" meaning a HP and AAoA ding, I trust.  I used to have to go to gas stations and buy Amazon cards and put them on my Fort Knox card for 5%.  Every time I wanted to buy something.  Those days are now over!  Life is much simpler now.

Thank you Synchrony and thank you Amazon.  Or whoever is responsible.  Whether this lasts for any length of time is quite another matter.

Re: Is Amazon worth it to you?

Everything Amazon is worth it. Store card, Prime membership, Kindle, Cloud services, Fire TV.

I can't wait to buy my next car via Amazon. Maybe even my next house. These could happen soon.
