Itching for my first Prime card

Ever since I got an invite for Chase Freedom last week I've been itching to get a prime card. I didn't bite yet, I'm waiting until I lower my util. But every time I go to the mailbox I hope to see a new mailing. Discover can I get some love? Smiley Wink

For some reason, before last week, I had never even thought about having a prime card. I guess I never felt worthy and thought I would always be stuck with my sub-primes. Hopefully I'll be able to close out a couple of them this year.

So how did you feel when you got your first prime card?

Re: Itching for my first Prime card

Gof my Chase Sapphire Preferred last week and actually went to work late because I was waiting for the UPS guy.

I had other prime cards, but this one made me feel like I accomplished something, especially since it was an instant approval. Smiley Happy

The word Prime is relative in the context of CC.

I am totally with you on this one OP.  I am just waiting for tax refund to finish paying off my balances so my util will nicely tucked uner 5% when I hit them up.

Its hard not to pull the trigger now but alas...I have waited this long...so I AM going to wait it out.

My first will be Discover IT followed by Chase Freedom I think.

I am even debating on borrowing a friends puter so I can hit "Submit" on multiple browser windows at exactly the same time.  lol  (I think I might be a little obsessed maybe)  Smiley Tongue

Re: Itching for my first Prime card

I was surprised. I got two discover cards at same time with only 6-7 months of history

Different accounts/2 different Discover products? Or two of the same product Discover card?

Re: Itching for my first Prime card

My first prime card was Discover. It's been a long road rebuilding my credit and to think of the cc's I had 10-15 years ago - and lost- makes this card bittersweet.

I felt like I was finally forgiven for my mistakes.  A wonderful feeling.

Re: Itching for my first Prime card

For me, it was bittersweet as well. Applying for the Freedom and the approval that followed was a difficult road to take. The recon process took 3 weeks and in the middle of waiting for the verdict, I received a "denial due to bankruptcy" letter in the mail. That hurt to read because I filled that BK in 2003 and it is almost 10 years old. For 7 of those 10 years, I have been nothing but a model citizen. Always paid my bills on time. That letter made me feel like none of my hard work counted. But shortly after that, the Freedom card arrived in the mail and I knew that I had one foot back in the door of prime land once again. I had some sweet cards in college that were wiped out in the BK.

I hope to try for Discover next in September. But I am happy I finally have at least one prime card in my wallet. :-)
