Ive waited a little over 4 months to join NFCU and I finally did yesterday by opening a savings account (opened checking account this morning - no HP). Only pull so far was a HP on TU for membership. I just PIF my balance on Walmart card and this will bring total UTIL from 12.5% to 1.5%. The card cuts statement on 2nd and should post around the 4th or 5th.
The waiting for apping for NFCU CC is killing me now. I was patient while waiting to join but the next couple days are going to be extremely difficult. I expect the change in UTIL to raise my scores about 10 points. Is the 10 points really worth me going nutts about this over the next 4 to 5 days?
So close but yet so far!

They pulled TU for my membership and TU and Equifax for my CC. TU is always so slow to update for me. It usually seems to update 4-5 days after the others. There is a memo field on the application incase your TU did not reflect the updated balance. I used the field to explain a collection that had not been deleted on Equifax at the time I was applying and how I was thinking of a balance transfer but had to wait and see what the APR was before deciding. They gave me a 10.65% despite that collection. I thought it was pretty cool. I assume they physically read the applications.
Duncanrr has the itch! You can do it, just a few more days and you're there!
So wait... I work for Verizon... but I work on DoD contracts... I have a CAC... could I get an account?
I just asked my buddies and sure enough, I can since I was brought in under the DoD contract which I support now. They all have NCFU accounts. BTW, VZ bought out, MCI who bought out my company, UUNET, you can't put us all in the same basket. I hate VZW.
