Maybe wait for 4 months then ask for what you really want except let them throw you  extra 100 or 200. You decided.

Re: JCP - 2 Months, Worth Trying For A CLI?

I think that two months is too short a period of time; you'll likely receive a response of: "insufficient experience with your current credit level." When I first got my JCP card, it was also for a $200 limit. After 3-1/2 months, they automatically bumped me up to $1200. I would wait and see, and if you don't receive an increase by your fourth statement, go ahead and ask for one.

To be on the safe side I would wait about 6 months.

No need to wait that long. JCP is backed by GECRMB, and they are good about approving customer initiated CLIs every four months. Worst case is that they'll deny it, but the OP can simply try again later... asking won't hurt. But, I wouldn't expect one after only two months.

Re: JCP - 2 Months, Worth Trying For A CLI?

That's why I said on the safe side. I never had a JCP card so I wouldn't know about their policies towards increases but to me a limit increase should come after 6 months of usage whether its a store card or a major card. That's why I said to be safe because to me it should be approved after 6 months.

I have had my account with them for a long time and my experience is you have to wait 3 billing cycles between each CLI request.

Go for it on the 4th statement cut. Make sure you use it some and PIF.

As others have said, you should wait at least 4 months. Also remember that JCP (or any other GE backed card) keeps an internal FICO score that they pull every 90 days or so. If you know when they soft pull you and make your timing right then n you have a very good shot at getting a good CLI.

I called them about a month ago knowing that their internal score has just refreshed. They told me they would need to hard pull CR. I said OK. Actually they never did because they have a fresh score in the system.
