Re: Joined NFCU, but too chicken to app

Don't be afraid to app for the cards.  If I had known what I know now... I'd done this NFCU membership months ago!

As Creditaddict shared with me last week, they already pulled your file to set up the savings... use that pull to get a card or two.  And the CLOC if you also open the checking account.

Good luck and welcome to the NFCU family!

I was able to get a $5k Signature Visa with them with like a 575 or some such, which was actually my highest score at the time. I also had 3 public records totalling about $7k($6k of it unpaid) & 4 unpaid medical baddies(low amounts) on the bureau they pulled. I actually have 13 medical baddies total, but only 4 showed on the bureau they pulled.

I think my saving grace might have been my current job history of 9 years, but I'm not sure how much that figured into it all.

The worst they can say is no.

Also, I was able to get their CLOC(albeit only $500 starting) when they pulled my worst bureau which had a FICO of 553 with 13 baddies listed on it. My public records are still listed. Hoping to try a vacate on them soon.

Have you since been able to get a CLI on the CLOC? Also, curious...do you have direct deposit going into your checking? I do, but only $200 every 2 weeks for right now. I have considered increasing it. I'm wondering if the CLOC is dependent also on the amount you DD into the account. I haven't applied for it yet.

FYI - I opened my accounts last Thursday and put in 50 bucks each to start.  I was approved for the 15K CLOC.

I think toooo many people, including myself, get sucked into the fear factor of doing something wrong or being rejected when trying to build or rebuild credit.  Don't be afraid to push forward when you find an amazing lender/bank.

Good luck!

Just to add you should for sure apply but it's just about always separate pulls for each product.

I haven't tried for a CLOC CLI yet as it's still rather new. And yes, I have direct deposit going to my checking account. I did the direct deposit after I had already gotten everything else.

I got approved for their visa platinum with 2500, goRewards 2500, and clof of 10K---10k was my request. Had I known I would be approved, I would have asked for 15k but I am now.

Re: Joined NFCU, but too chicken to app

yeah they did a hard pull for every single one of my NFCU products lul....

Not a big deal for me since they are pretty much the only people I deal with now, and they don't seem to care about hard pulls showing rofl
