Got my CLI from Discover using the auto talk over the phone - used to think that was just a gimmick. But nooooo, I got $1750 to $3500 easy. This adds to my recent CLI success from BOA and AMEX. Yay for gardening...

Congrats! Thats prolly the most generous thing Discover has done all day.
With your encouragement, I tried to request a CLI for 2X limit over the phone, and as always it said "we are going to need more information, stay on the line for an account manager" which is code for hard pull.. No thanks. Discover gave this guy with a 761 credit score a $750 credit line. Ill use my BCP with the 3K starting limit.
The sad part is I really like Discover, but the credit limit is insulting, I run double that a month through the card and have had the card for 12 months.
Do you have any advice on the type of usage they want to see?
I've been with them for 3.5 years and have only gotten 1 increase. I rarely use the card as other banks have shown me a lot more luv. Not really a fan of Discover
I'm not a big fan of them either. I have them directly linked to pay my cable/internet bill for the 2% back. Other than that, I only use them for the 5% categories when they don't overlap with the others.
You know,

You know I have no idea. I have the Discover card for 2 years now. I only got one auto CLI from $1500 to $1750 last August, when I let it go above 50% for the first time. Then I have forever tried to increase from the $1750 credit line, even to talked to a rep once. When I requested CLI this time, I have been putting maybe around $200 on it every month and tried as best as I can to pay it off before statement cuts., althought I don't think that's the reason. I attributed the success to my recent CLI on my other two cards; my theory is CCC will be more comfortable giving out CLs close to ones you already have.
@dp321: Congrats on the CLI! I got one over the phone this week, too Maybe CCC do try to match other CL, but at least in my case Discover has not been as generous. When I applied for Discover More 6 months ago, the majority of my cards were close to 5k, with the highest at 10k. Discover offered me only 1.5k. I took it. I just got it increased to 2k, which is still below all my other CLs.
Comparatively speaking, I got Chase Freedom w/ 6k CL around the same time as Discover More and they automatically increased it at 6 months to 9k.
@nada9188: I read on the forums that Discover likes heavy usage before giving CLIs. The last 4 months I have been using more than 80% of my CL with multiple (3-4) large payments throughout the cycle.
So I just tried the CLI option over the phone thru the automated system and I went from $2k - $4k instantly. Not near my other high limit cards but I'll take it and show them some luv. At least they up'd the cashback bonus thresholds. .
