Just apped for AMEX BCE and app is still pending.....

I was looking at that and saw a few different backdoor numbers, what one would you recommend that I call.  I called one of them , and got with an account specialist and he told me application department is closed today and gave me a phone number.

I called the "App Status" number. 2nd one down.

Just relax. I've had 4 amex applications. Three of the decisions gave me the 14 days thing. The longest I had to wait was almost a week and the shortest was 4 days. I was approved for all of the cards. The one where the decision was quick, I was denied. So if I was you I would look at it as a positive, sit back and relax, and if you're denied then you can freakout and call numbers and recon. You're still in a decent position right now.

Thanks for that.  Makes me feel better.   I'm forcing myself to not check the app status window until at least tomorrow AM cause I doubt anyone is going to look at it before then!

When DH applied for his AMEX, there was a fraud alert on his file. The CSR was able to clear it up and also he got approved

When I applied for my Delta Gold it came up as pending, but I checked the app status page immediately and it said it was approved. The BCE was a different story. I got the same message as you, it was on a weekend, where the app department was closed. I checked the app status page like every twenty minutes all weekend long. On Monday I called and spoke with someone in the app department who got me approved in three minutes -- in which I verified my identity. I did, in their defense, apply for both cards within 5 days of each other.

I know where you're coming from. I checked my app every 15 minutes (sometimes 10) even in the middle of the night. In retrospect it was much ado about nothing but it's easy to say that when you don't have an app pending.  Hope you get it.
