You got lucky. They want to pull IRS transcipts of our past three years to verify income. We have 780-800 scores with less than 2% overall useage on $175K of open CC lines.
I see no reason to allow Amex to pull my tax returns. I have had my card since 1987. I have no card with less than a $12K credit line - most are $20K+. They lowered our line to $2K - a joke.
Amex just lost a great 22-year long credit card holder.
