Just got a mailer for a FNBO amex .....

I Obviously aren't trying to apply for anything at all especially with this recent discovery of fraud in my name Smiley Sad but is that a good thing amex from FNBO the mailer makes it sound like if it was a black amex ... Does that mean good credit or "we know u can't be approved for a real amex so here's this "amex" "

I got the mailing too. The card isn't offered on their site -- it's an all black amex. It comes with a 0% intro for eight months, and a possible 11.99% - 19.99% APR. The rewards seem pretty substandard (1% everything) but I hear they give out great starting CL's and SP CLI's every four months. Many people say FNBO apps always require a manual review but the mailing claims an instant decision will be made. Anyhow, I don't think I'll apply but it could be a decent card for carrying a balance (assuming one gets the lowest APR).

As always, mailers are just marketing.  It just means "we want to make money off of you".  If you want to assess your credit then review your reports.

I dont usually rely on prequals. They're not always a guarantee of approval in the first place. It's marketing a lot of the time.

Re: Just got a mailer for a FNBO amex .....

I get one of these a week.  As said above, the rewards are substandard and amusingly written (approx You deserve great rewards, 1% ALL the time on every purchase)

Some here like it for the potential CL  (I don't want larger limits on a useless card) or the free EX FICO.
