I was thinking about applying for the AmEx BCE for the longest time becuase of their awesome cash back percentages.
My credit profile looked like this:
opened 12/10 Alliant CC 2,000 CL less than 10% util everymonth
opened 11/10 Shell Gas card 400 CL Less than 20% util every month
2 inquries. One on 11/10 and 6/11
I had about 12,500 in student loans but I have paid them off. I thought my student loans didnt figure into my AAoA so I thought my AAoA would be around a year.
I did the free myFICO trial thing so I could see my eqifax credit score. Turns out it was much higher than I thought it was. (780!!!!)
Apparently my student loans were figured into my AAoA because on the myFICO site is saying it is 4 years. It says my utilization is 7%
I applied for the AmEx BCE right away this afternoon and I got some message about how I will get an answer in 7-10 days in the mail. I went to the website to find the status of my application 5 min later and after putting in my into it says it was Approved.
Apparently they dont have an issue with me only earning 25k this year.
I just thought I should post this just incase this helps anyone else out.
wtg and congrats
Congrats....did you check your CL? If you have not, call the # listed at the bottom of your approved page, it will ask for some infor and tell you what your CL is. Congrats again.........
Congrats on the approval, and super congrats on the EQ 780 FICO, that's Awesome!!!!!
Thanks for the congratz. Im just excited to save some cash with a sweet cash back credit card and get in the door with AmEx.
I havnt called to ask what my CL is. I'll call to see what my CL is on Monday if I get around to it. If its 3,000 or more I will be happy with that to start.
Amex Credit Cards are hard to get approved. What ever the CL you get, you should be happy since you are already in the club. After 6 months you can ask for CLI and based on your spending, payment, income they will accommodate additional credit limits. Best of all there is no hard inq's for cli's with amex.

I am shocked to see you have enough patience to wait til Monday
I did it right away....haha.
FYI....it's all automated and takes a few minutes but Monday is fine for you than so be it.
All automated you say? For some reason I had a mental image of a bunch of credit underwriters sitting in a dark room with a lot of smoke in it thinking very hard about what they were going to offer me.
