Just got my new Discover with a big CL. What should be my first purchase?

I've seen reference to the impact of first purchase on credit cards. What should I buy? Or not?

I'd go buy a nice HD Plasma. What CL did they give you and what CRA did they pull from?

Many people like using it for Starbucks as a first time purchase, but groceries or supermarkets is also a good place for a first time purchase.

As long as you do not use it for any shady purchases, you should be fine. Making a first purchase via an infomercial or at a liquor store is not really recommended for a brand new card.

I went through Lowermybills.com to the link. They pulled EX, maybe because EX owns Lowermybills? It was instant, and it was 8K. My highest on anything else is 3K, so I consider this big.

I just realized that since joining the board early this year, I am now 4 for 4 on new accounts! My total available CL was about 1,700 with the highest at $500. By combining, adding CLI's and new accounts it is now about 15K (plus Amex Gold charge) with my lowest at $500.

Oh, and Creditkeeper says adding the new account will result in "no change" in Fako. Interesting. We'll see on that soon.

I told the lady everyone urged me to break it in at Starbucks.

So, I now have 0.1% Util on my Discover card.

I always wonder if the "Starbucks is good place according to the First Purchase Models" was started by someone who works for Starbucks.
