NFCU is probabaly the best creditor out there now in terms of approvals and generous limits for rebuilders.   They will do another pull for a CC app, and will pull either EQ or TU.

+1  They are forgiving of past mistakes and are very pull happy.  Personally, I'd get the scores/reports to look a little nicer, get some direct deposit going and wait a few months then app for the cc.  More than likely, they'd approve you now with a decent starting limit.  I think if you waited and put yourself in a better position you would net a cc with a higher starting limit.

For example, my DH app'd for the cash rewards with some baddies when he opened his account.  Low 600's score at the time.  Was approved with a $1k limit.  After a few months of DD ($30/month) and the removal of some baddies, he asked for a CLI, approved for $5k.  Then he app'd for the nrewards card and was approved for $5k with mid 600 scores.

they gave DH to 5k lines of credit with mid 600 scores? doesnt surprise me congrats those are nice limits. I have the platinum no rewards low apr and nrewards ill ask them for some luv in 6 mosSmiley Happy

Yep.  Although one was a CLI from $1k to $5k after a few months of DD and good usage on the card.  His scores just recently reached the 680's on TU and EQ and he's a little under a year with NFCU.  But just a few months made the difference between a cc with a cl of $1k and $5k.  I'm one of those that like to have all my ducks in a row before doing anything though.  QUACK!  Smiley Very Happy

Re: Just joined NFCU

Spoke too soon, they pulled my TU yesterday. Wonder why they even pull to join if they tell you you're approved before the pull even shows?

Just waiting for my packet to go in and make my opening deposit. The join part took forever because I had to submit my I'd and ssn twice. Gonna dd some of my pay into the savings so I'll have the 500 in there for their secured card.

Re: Just joined NFCU

Called and was told they use the same CR pull for joining if you apply for any credit card including the secured card as long as it's within 30 days of that credit pull.

I think people have found their experiences to be different.  Do a search for NFCU approvals.  Lots of posts with multiple pulls.  I think the NFCU gave you bad info.

thats not true. when i joined they pulled tu for membership. then the next day i apped for cash rewards then 2 days later got the denial. so the next day i funded 500 to savings and apped for the secured nrewards. 1 hp on tu 2 hps on eq is what i got. also if you on edge of getting approved ive heard of them pulling tu and eq at the same time

Re: Just joined NFCU

If they lied, they have the power to remove the inquiry. I'll know tomorrow if I get an alert.
