Just logged onto AmEx

Making my rounds through my card companies to make sure no surprises had popped up, and AmEx had a surprise for me. A credit limit of $7049 which is strange since my CL is supposed to be $7,000. I asked my GF if we returned something and she said no, and when I checked the payments area I saw I had a $50 statement credit for apparently no reason.

Thanks AmEx!

Re: Just logged onto AmEx

Is it a recent card where you maybe hit a spend threshhold to get $50 back?

Re: Just logged onto AmEx

I wonder why a statement credit would increase your cl?  Seems like it would just appear as an adjustment to your balance?  Under that logic, if I had a cl of $1200 and bought and returned an item that cost $1000, my cl would then be $2200.

Maybe he only one a $1 balance at the time of the credit.  So it was like pushing an overpayment.

After looking into it, it says that it's from the purchase of Delta tickets that I made 2 months ago.

I didn't expect to ever get a $50 credit though.

And my Available credit is $7049 because of a $1 pending charge. The card is PIF so they had to put it somewhere I guess haha

Re: Just logged onto AmEx

The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, I had been credited back 16.99 for a purchase and in my AmEx Account Summary page I had a zero balance so it showed my CL was 6016.

I would not mind a 50 credit LOL!!!

Re: Just logged onto AmEx

I got a postcard for my Green a few months back encouraging dining out and I could get a credit for the bill. Got my first credit in may for like $37. Paid my bill on thursday last week and got my account snapshot email showing a negative $102 balance which was for another dinner put on june! I love free money!

Hmmm.  Delta had a huge problem in Cincinnati a month or so ago.  Their payment processing wasn't working and none of the kiosks could take credit cards for changing flights or checked bag fees.  At least that's what it would tell you when you swiped your card.  I paid cash right as the supervisors were coming down the line telling everyone that everything was down and that they couldn't process anyone else.  But when I got home, each card I had tried to run had been charged $50 for a total of four charges.  Delta credited the charges after a few phone calls.

I wonder if they had a more widespread problem and you were charged and extra $50 by mistake.  Or maybe they went back and credited a bunch of people and you were credited an extra $50 by mistake.  Might want to check though to make sure you don't have extra charges hanging out there.
