Just poked "The Beast" known as BofA

Hey Ya'll,

So tonight I felt like asking for a CL increase. I had to call into customer service because, as many of you already know, the luv button disappeared recently.

Of course, an instant decision couldn't be made and the CSR said I can call the credit department tomorrow. I will certainly do that and see what happens.

Any guesses?

Don't be shocked if they cut your CL or close your account. I hope you get the CLI but BoA has been on a mission to reduce their exposure as much as possible. Expect the worst so in case it does happen, you won't be devastated.

Thanks, YE.

Yeah, I've heard the stories lately. The CSR said I have an exceptional history, although I'm aware that doesn't mean anything even though she's correct.

They can certainly do that and I'll have no problem taking my business elsewhere. I have my eye on joining a credit union anyway. I will post an update.

Re: Just poked "The Beast" known as BofA

** UPDATE **

I didn't get the increase because three of my other accounts haven't reported a $0 balance yet. She said to call back once the report is updated because that will make a significant impact on my utilization.

She was extremely polite and there was no such mention of an account closure. So, nothing else for me to do here except to wait until my Experian report updates, which should be around the beginning of November. Then I'll call them back.

I requested a CLI from BoA a few months ago.  Resulted in the same basic response:  "Account history is excellent" but no CLI at this time.  They told me they felt I "had adequate credit" and to "keep managing the account as I had."

They also indicated at that time that since they were my highest CL, they didn't feel inclined to give me a CLI....thus the "adequate credit" portion of response.  They were polite, asked a variety of questions, but did not reduce or close my account.

It was for this reason that I went on an app-spree to establish other TL's that were as high or higher than BoA so that their explanation was no longer applicable.  I also wanted to diversify since most of my credit personal and business was with BoA and there had been so many reports of AA for no other reason than "economic climate" and new risk policies as well as changes to predate the new CC laws coming into effect.

My new TL's are now as much as 2.5x my BoA CL.  They can't claim to be my best option or TL any more Smiley Happy
