Kay Jewlers

After reading up a bit on Kay Jewlers on this site, I decided to give the application a whirl. Hooray! I was approved for a card with a $2k limit.  My question is this: Will this new limit (now my highest) bode well in getting higher limits on other cards?

Re: Kay Jewlers

Further to the above, I'm specifically curious about a card like Macy's who has me stuck at $100. When I reapply, will they see the $2k Kay limit and become more amenable to budging a bit?

Re: Kay Jewelers

Umm....not so much, sorry. The additional available credit certainly helps your overall utilization but I seriously doubt it will significantly impress Macy's. They should grow with you nonetheless. It is a gradual growing, don't expect miracles.

Re: Kay Jewelers

Thanks. Just wondering if it would correlate to non-store credit cards. I'd read pretty consistently on this site that you're more likely to get cards with limits $1k and above once you reach $1k with another card.  Oh, well.  I grateful for the Kay's account, most certainly.

Re: Kay Jewelers

It's a step forward, not back. I just don't think Jewelery stores carry much clout. I may be wrong, just basing the opinion on the fact that they seem to be the easiest to get lines with. Who knows now days? It sure beats a stick in the eye.

Re: Kay Jewelers

Good morning Almost_there,

I have 2 questions for you. When you applied for your card did you do it online or in store? My other question is did your score increase with the new credit line?

Thanks,

Re: Kay Jewlers

Hey Almost_there,

Congrats on your success with Kay Jewlers.

Question for you:  Did they tell you what bureau they pulled from for the 2K limit?

Re: Kay Jewlers

Kays is a equifax puller. I have a kay card with a credit limit of 7500 which was my starting limit. Had the card since nov 08. Will not ask for a credit increase will wait till they give me one because 7500 is more than enough. My score at the time was 690.

Re: Kay Jewlers

Hello Elaine,

How are you? My question is once you got your kay cc did you receive an increase in your fico score? If so, would you telling me how many points.

Thanks

benben
