Hang onto your Kohl's card. As a former associate (and card holder)....Kohl's sends out MAJOR incentives to shop with them. If you receive a 30% scratch off.....go shop. If your limit is $300, spend it and immediately pay it. Continue to use the 30% scratch off.
I also love their friends/family sales.
Here's a little known Kohl's Trick: EXAMPLE. If you spend $50, you will receive a $10 coupon to be used the following week. So let's say you spend $200, you'll receive the $40 coupon. Make your $40 purchase. IF you need to return the $40 item, allow Kohl's to put the $40 on a merchandise return card...you get to keep the $40. If you get it credited BACK to the original payment...you lose that $40. So much I learned during my 3 years there. YMMV
Plus, you don't need to hang onto receipts. They can just do a simple look up and pull up recent purchases (used to be 6 months)...and you're credited THAT amount, NOT lowest sales price.
Not sure if anyone is still curious about this, BUT, I called a CSR today to check on their "updating system" and she told me that they will consider credit limit increases in the middle of 2013.
