Kohls

I want a Kohls card in the worst way.  They give such good specials to card holders.  Who do they pull from and would it be better to go into the store.  What bank does their cards?
Thanks

Re: Kohls

Kohl's is Chase, and Chase is death on lates within 2 years and BK's and other serious baddies (don't know how far back on them.) You can print out the app from the store site, but you have to go into the store to apply.

They're on my list, but not until some lates cool down. I made the mistake of app'ing at check-out a year ago and provided great entertainment for my fellow shoppers by being denied on the spot. Next time I'm going to the customer service desk! Smiley Very Happy

They pulled EX in Tennessee.

Re: Kohls

Hauling,

If I may ask, how old were the lates when you got rejected.  I would like to get the Chase Kiss card but I have some 90+ lates (thanks BofA) on my report from a little over 2 years ago.  I have no inqs on EX but 2 each on TU and EQ.  It would be nice that they pulled from EX and if not TU.

Mine were still a year old --I was one year out from some strange credit brainfreeze on one card and had a 30-60-90. Smiley Sad ) So certainly no surprise that I was declined. I was so ignorant of all things credit at the time that when the cashier asked if I wanted to app, I said sure, not even thinking about what had happened with J.Crew.

If you go to the Chase site and pretend to apply for any of their cards, you get a box asking this:
* Yes, my credit history is clear of bankruptcy.
* Yes, my credit history is clear of seriously delinquent accounts.
* Yes, I have NOT been denied credit by Chase within the last 6 months.
I read a post the other day that this might be a way of discouraging people ahead of time, and that some have been approved anyway, but I'm letting the stinkers go over 2 years. They don't define "seriously delinquent", but many creditors call it a 60-day, and all call it a 90-day, plus the other usual suspects. * sigh *

Re: Kohls

It's Chase, so that means EX, or at least it was for me last February.

Just checked whogavemecredit-dot-com, and there were only two approvals, one with 688 and one with 602, interestingly, both on TU. But it was definitely EX for me. One turndown for not having two existing revolvings, one for 2006 BK, another just looked like low score.

Check both Kohl's and Kohls.

Our Kohl's store is not as good as others I am gathering, a smaller store- but yes, they do send you great coupons.
