I am thinking of applying for this card. There is a Kroger store nearby. I especially like the 15 cents off a gallon of gas at the station. My question is, it states spend $100 in groceries per month and receive a 15 cents off a gallon of gas on a single fill up at the station no more than 25 gallions. Does this mean you only get the 15 cents off on one fill up per month?Example:
If I spend $100 in groceries per month
Fill up three times per month do I receive the 15 cents off every time I fill up?
Please help
Hi craig,
I'm a Kroger customer as well.
With the 1-2-3 Rewards Mastercard you save
15 cents/gallon for every $100 you spend. The
maximum savings is capped at $1.50/gallon,
which means you'd have to spend $1,000 at Kroger
to qualify for this discount.
I live in sw Virginia. Back in November a lady who shops
at our local Kroger took advantage of the $1.50/gal savings.
The normal price for gas was $1.55/gal, but with her discount
she only paid 5 CENTS/GAL!!! She bought 25 gallons of gas,
so her final bill came to a whopping $1.25. Now THAT's savings!!!
And to use your example. If you spend $100 this
month at Kroger, you'd be eligible for a 1-time 15 cents/gal
savings at the pump. You'd have to spend another $100
to qualify for another 15 cents/gallon savings, but you can
let your savings accrue up to $1.50/gallon.
If you don't use the 1-2-3 card and just use your regular
Kroger's shoppers card, the discount is 3 to 5 cents/gallon
depending on the fuel center where you use it.
Hope this helps. Please let us know how things turn out
with the credit card. We'll be pulling for ya!!!

No. The regular Kroger shopper's card is not a credit card.
Just go to the Customer Service section of any Kroger's
and fill out a short app. They give you the shopper's card
right there on the spot, as well as a smaller one that fits
on your key chain. You'll be able to start enjoying savings
right away.
You can use the regular shopper's card at checkout when
you buy groceries inside the store, as well as at the pump
for buying gas.
Once you have your shopper's card and are in Kroger's system,
if you forget your shopper's card you can always punch in your
phone number (area code + local number) at checkout to get the
savings as well. You can also type in your phone number at the
gas pump. They are computerized and will let you know if you
qualify for a gas price discount. Just hit 'Y' for yes or 'N' for no.
If you hit no, then 3-5 cents/gal will be subtracted from the price.
If you hit yes, then whatever discount you qualify for will be
subtracted from the price. The discount cap for gas is $1.00/gal
for the shopper's card and $1.50/gal for the 1-2-3 rewards card.
Hope this helps.

Thanks! What kind of savings do you get with the regular shopper's card? Is it worth it or should I just apply for the 1-2-3?

Thanks!
As I stated in my previous post, the maximum gas savings
for the shopper's card is $1/gallon and $1.50/gallon for the
1-2-3 rewards credit card.
If you want another credit card and the potential to save
an extra 50 cents/gallon at the pump, then it's worth it to
app for the credit card. If not, then just go for the shopper's card

Well I went to Kroger today to get some things. Actually only bought 3 items and went to the service desk before I shopped. Asked for a card and they gave me the shopper card. I asked if there was another one and they said that is the only one. I signed up and got the card right there. Total for my items was $14.04 and I got a 65 cent discount with being a card member.
Also, I now have 13 points after the three items and need 100 to qualify for 10 cents off gas.
I am trying to see if Kroger jacks up their prices compared to Wal Mart so they can offer the cards. I am sure tat is what they do but the gas discount is nice.
