So on a last minute whim we decided to make a last minute flight out to San Francisco for the weekend. It was our first time there and we will go back soon because we loved it!! Well one of the main things we wanted to do was tour Alcatraz but unfortunately we couldn't find any available tickets, we searched all over the Internet but unfortunately they were sold out everywhere. Well long story short I called up the concierge team at Ritz Carlton and the amazing lady there got right on it for me. She said they are based out of San Francisco and she would do her best to get me some. She called me back 10 minutes later and said congratulations we had tickets for the 11am cruise on Saturday morning. We were super happy and she even gave us a list of things we should see. I was very impressed and so I thought I would share my experience.
I love traveling to San Francisco & hanging out at the piers. Glad that your Ritz-Carlton card came through for you....gotta love a sweet surprise !

We had so much fun, the city is beautiful and everything about it was amazing. We will probably head back there right before school lets out before Summer hits to beat the big crowd.
I think it is a fascinating place that must be amazing at this time of year with the holiday decorations, but I adore the Palace of Fine Arts most of all.....breathtakingly beautiful !
Cashing out all my blue sky points for my birthday weekend in late feb. Two nights at the Hilton in the financial district. I'm planning on eating at Nopa and Bar Crudo which is near the Independent where I'll see a show. I'm by no means a high roller and I've hung on to these points for almost a year. I was even thinking about converting them into an account credit but the value just isn't there.
SF is a fun city. I'm glad to cash out all my points this way. Maybe get some ghiradelli chocolate, too. Glad you had a fun time One7. Maybe I'll see where my concierge service can get me, as well.

When are you flying out? There's going to be a nasty storm the next couple days. Schools are actually going to be closed tomorrow. Basically a "snow day" on the west coast.
I just saw on the news this morning that Alcatraz will be closed to the public also.

I went last weekend. Flew out Thursday and came back to Austin on Sunday night. The weather was fantastic.
