Left the Garden .... But am so much smarter thanks to myfico forum

After 9 months in the garden, i left it today, resulting in 2 new inqs. However, one inq was to refinance car at better rate AND shorter term. I went from 8.69 to 1.59!!!!! We'll save almost 3k over the life of the loan.

The second inq was for schwab high yield checking. My current bank charges me $9/mo to hold my money. Schwab charges nothing, reimburses ATM fees and gives me a tiny % of interest on my money. By switching banks, i figure i'm saving about 20 bucks/month. All together these two inqs saved me about 4k over the next 3 years. Not bad for a couple hours on the phone. And the inqs will be aged over a year when we go for mortgage preapproval next April.

I don't understand why people stay with banks that charge them so many fees. there's so many choices out there.

NJ,
We refinancrd with navy fed. They have ridiculously low interest rates and exceptionally high credit limits.
I also love USAA for their great customer service and awesome online banking.
However, i am in the process of switching to schwab for my primary checking acct as they have 0 foreign transaction fees and reimburse arm fees world wide. (Usaa reimburses domestically, but not always internationally & they do charge ftf).

Well I was going to ask if you meant 1.79%, as that was the lowest that NFCU was offering earlier this week when I checked, but I see that they are now offering as low as 1.49% auto loans. Congrats!

Congrats!
I don't like getting hard pulls for things like checking accounts, renting, or utilities! Seems silly
