I am a choice hotel member and while travelling where only a late night halt for good sleep is needed, I use choice hotels as an optional to SPG which is used for enjoying vacations. This saves money since I check in late in the evening and check out in the morning after breakfast
Here are the ways I leverage the savings.
1) Use AAA membership which gives 10% discount on choice hotels
2) Use Ultimate Rewards website to book the hotels which gives 3% plus Chase Sapphire Preferred which gives 2% on hotels. This makes total discount 25%.
3) In big cities like New York or Toronto, Choice hotel offers an option of 25% discount on rates for non refundable booking. It is a risk but saves good money.
Please suggest alternative ways for saving money on hotel booking with or without annual fee credit cards
Line 2 typo error. Please read as 15%.

How do you get to 25% in step 2?
Let's say you book a $100 room, AAA gets that down to $90. Booking through UR with your CSP gets you 3% (2%+1%) so now you're at $87.30. That's a 12.7% discount in total. Am I missing a step?
Nevermind, I should have read your second post.
