Higher your TU the better your odds. Amex, Cap One, Discover, Boa, Chase all have prequal sites that you can see if they have any offers for you without using a hp.

lowes is one of the only store cards I can't get a cli on, got it awhile back at 300 and still there.

Whatever you do, do not request CLIs over the phone or online, always go in-store to request one... any Customer Service Associate can and should be able to perform one. Some have better luck getting their CLIs approved within the store, just saying. Also, wait 6 months between increases.

They pull TransUnion so make sure that is as good as it be when applying. From what I've seen, there's no magic score to have, it varies and mainly relies on payment history in my opinion, I've actually seen high 700's get declined.
