I am so glad for you CS, you deserve it.

I am also looking to purchase a home in the next year in a half or so.

Thanks. I wanted to get my apps out of the way and now work these cards with CLI's mid 2013.

I have a charge off falling off next december so i'm hoping for some good boost; that and the accoutns aging etc.

When I was disputing the inaccurate CO on my report, when it was finally removed my EQ went from 700 to 777 and my TU went from 727 to 784 or 786 literally overnight, and the CO was 6 yrs old.

According to my EX report, (schedule to report until Dec 2012)

So here's hoping for a good boost to start 2013

The app free thing isn't completely true. I applied and closed within three months of opening two new credit card accounts and had 4 inquires within my 12 month period. My scores aren't that great due to mistakes a few years back but you def won't get shot down for a mortgage for a few inquires( but less is better). Lenders may request a letter of explanation for them. Lenders don't want ppl applying for credit in the middle of the mortgage process though. But as always every case is different.

+1  I applied for a mortgage last May and had 4 recent INQ on my CBRs and it was no big deal.  The accounts were already on my reports with 0 balances.  I just had to complete a form from the bank (Chase) explaining them and I was done.  The UW needs to make sure your DTI is accurate to approve the loan.  A trend of new credit shopping during the process sends up a red flag and thats why you NEVER apply for anything while your loan is being processed.
