Greetings to all. I am about to start some home improvement projects and began to wonder about using a Lowes store card verus one of my current points cards. Does the store card offer any advantages that only exist in that scenario?
I believe lowes sometimes offers discount when using their card for purchases
5% off on purchases.

Yes or you can choose 0% financing for larger purchases
Yes 5% at all times and if u spend from $299 and up you get 6 months interest free. I have seen where u get more than 6 months too.
Also if you have both a Lowes and Home Depot, Home Depot will match the 5% off on purchases at most stores.

If your going to spending alot then they offer much longer low or 0 interest terms on the Lowes card.
They usually offer 18 month 0% on purchases over $599.
If your going to spend more than $3500 you can get up to 84 months at 5.99%
You may also want to look at purchasing Lowes gift cards at discounted prices at places like ebay, craiglist or sites like gift card granny. You can usually save atleast 10% or more doing that.

Thanks everyone and why this place is such a valuable resource. I never even knew of purchasing Lowes gift cards at discounted prices, wow.
Lowe's has some great promotions, and you can get good deals by financing (i.e. 0% for 18 months, etc.).
One word of caution, if you finance make sure it is fully paid before the term is completed. My sister and brother-in-law put $10K on their card sometime last year. Of course, they've been paying the minimum. Now their 18 months are up and they owe almost $10,000 + accrued interest from the start of the loan. All of it at 24.99%...ouch!!!!
