WAIT A MINUTE- they did a "soft" on you and a "hard" on me? I've had Macys forever! Mine was a pre-approved offer, too. I'm getting on that phone right now!
I did find a hard on my EX after reading your reply. I called Macy's and spoke to a Supervisor a few minutes ago. I explained to her that I have several recorded conversations with three different CSRs who assured me that there wouldn't be a hard pull if I accepted the upgrade. She put me on hold for 5 minutes. When she returned she was extremely apologetic and informed me that it was supposed to be a soft pull because it was a pre-approved offer. My info was sent to the wrong department. She said that they're going to recode the inquiry and will send a letter to me for my records. I'll keep you updated.

BTW - They did ask for the date I accepted andif I had the pre-approval letter.
