Re: MY VERY FIRST AMEX!

This may sound really stupid, but what is the point of having an AMEX card? From what I understand you have to pay it off every month. So wouldn't it be easier just to use your bank card?

I hope to heaven that you routinely pay off your bank card every month.

Sometimes there are killer deals (=0%), and very rarely, there are financial emergencies that result in you carrying a balance, but this should never be done on a routine basis. That's just giving your hard-earned money to banks.

Re: MY VERY FIRST AMEX!

My bank card just uses the money in my account with Visa as the processor.

Do you mean a debit card, then?

You mean, a debit card?

If you do, a credit card has much better fraud protection and you never run the risk of fraud depleting your checking account being without the funds while you go through the process to recover them.

Re: MY VERY FIRST AMEX!

The debit cards though have fraud protection through Visa or Mastercard. I have $0 exposure to fraud with it.
