Macy's CLI...Finally

I was reviewing a few of my cards to go on the chopping block because of low limits/ high APR/ Annual fees and Macy's came up to play. I had a $500 credit limit until they cut it to $320 and then to $200 because of information reported on my external report. I own my poor bad credit choices but I've never paid them late.

I called several times in the past few years to see if my $500 limit could be restored but was always told no. Even had a rep pull my credit and name off, in detail, all the reasons why she wouldn't approve me for anything over $200. I had that inquiry removed and put the card in the freezer with all the other lost credit souls of my past.

Called them up today and spoke to the credit department for what was to be one last time before I closed the account. I was asked about my income and rent payments, assured it would be a soft pull unless the system prompted for a hard pull, then put on hold. When she came back I knew she would say "Unfortunately.....". But surprise $200 to $2000 just like that. The card has been dormant for close to two years because I was so upset with Macy's ( and I was also unemployed for 18 months) but looks like I might have to give them the second chance they gave me and even better since they are reporting limits again.

Nice CLI

I was surprised too to see that I went from $300 to $2000. Barely use the card at all.

Re: Macy's CLI...Finally

I have had the card since 2008 and it stayed at $300 until Nov of last year. It was a SP to get it to $2000. I dont need more than that, heck, I would have been happy if they brought me from $300 to $1000 Smiley Wink

My "Member Since" date says 2002. I originally had an account with May Department Stores (Hecht's) until Macy's boought them out. All I really wanted was my $500 credit limit back but I'll take the $2000.

Re: Macy's CLI...Finally

My first Macys card was opened in 2001 then closed in 2005 due to no activity. So in 2008, I had to bite it for another HP and it was opened (new account number) with a CL of $300. I have used this card maybe 3 times since for very small purchases.
