Re: Macy's CLI...well, somewhat

I just got the chase freedom a couple weeks ago with a 4k cl I would have never considered applying on my own. I just happened to be making a deposit and they told me I was pre approved so I got it. I'm still getting used to having a totally clean report. My score increased to 804 TU and 794 EQ but it has been a very long road and took a lot of patience. TY on the congrats. btw this forum is habit forming..lol and to op I would look for an increase around the holidays..:smileyhappy: it used to be that everyone would give inceases around Nov-Dec hope this is still true.

Wow!! That is pretty darn awesome!! And what a great Credit Limit too!!  My Chase story is a little different...I was approved after a recon...they denied me online because of a collection account that I had paid, but had not been removed yet. I thought it was, so after it was removed, I called the backdoor number and after they checked my cr again and saw it was gone, they approved me.  Started me off with $1,000, but you would have though they gave me $10,000!!! LOL! Never in a million years did I ever think I'd have a Chase credit card.  I felt on top of the world! :smileyhappy:  Oh and your scores are wonderful! I still have a ways to go before I get there! You are so right, it takes patience to clean up credit. And it sure feels good when you can see some fruit from the hard work!

Oh and thanks for the heads up on increases around Nov-Dec....I too hope this is still true!!! :smileywink:

Hey all....funny story.... I called into Macy's to see if I could get a CLI since currently I only have $100 credit limit which is next to nothing.  I was shut down twice before withouit even getting transferred to their Credit Department and told I had to wait etc..  Well this time to my surprise and great joy I was transferred to the Credit Department and asked how much of a credit limit I wanted.  With the "Jeopardy" music playing in my mind I said $1,000 to match one of my higer credit cards (I have higher but tried not be greedy).  She asked permission to do what she claimed would be soft pull (will find out tomorrow if that's true when I check my Credit Report), and she came back and said "They didn't approve the $1,000 however they came back with a counter offer"...I said WOW, Okay, no problem...expecting atleast $500 or so....to my great shock it was............$200!!!!!!!  Womp Womp Woooomp! LOL!!!!!!!!!!  :smileytongue: Macy's is a whole entire trip!!!!  So basically they gave me a CLI of $100!! LMBO!!!!!!  So my Macy's credit limit is now a whooping $200!!!   LOL!!! Oh well, I'll ride this one out for another six months and see what happens.....It's a shame because I LOVE Macy's and this card would get a whole lot of use if the credit limit was higher.

Agreed.  Macys does have some "high end" stuff but also have some really reasonably priced clothing lines and some spectacular sales.  Kind of miss the coupons they used to send out quite frequently though.

My card started out at $100 too (06/09), it's now $1000.  So give it some time.  I think my first increase went from $100 to $900 then to $1000.  lol  I also think usage is a big deal with the card, but that's just been my experience.

Oh it's affordable. I just think it's overpriced for the quality of merchandise. I used to have a thing for so called high end stores but now I have a thing for saving money wherever I can. No sense in  overpaying for stuff I can find elsewhere for a lot less. :smileyvery-happy: BUT i will do a happy dance for anyone who makes progress while rebuilding their credit:smileyvery-happy:

Yes, I agree! Macy's does have amazing sales! In fact, I just recieved some coupons in the mail the other day!  Maybe you'll be receiving some as well.  Not sure if they send them out at the same time.

And thanks for sharing your experience with the card.  I will hopefully make more progress with them in time.  As I've said, I love that store and the card would get heavy use..lol! I'm in there often, but don't use the card too much.  Most times I just purchase a small item on it, or if I have 3 items, I'll buy one with the card, and pay for the other stuff cash or with another card, this is just so it can get some use every now and then.  Most times it's in my sock drawer though.  :smileyfrustrated:
