Macy's: Visa to AmEx Conversion

Now that it is reported that Macy's Visa will become Macy's AmEx, does anybody have any idea when the actual conversion will begin?

Last year when they offered me the Macy's Visa I was a little surprised that the validity period on my card was only one year when I am used to five-year validity periods on many of my other cards.  Now I am thinking that the one-year validity period was because they already knew they were dropping Visa.

What should I expect in another month and a half when my Macy's Visa expires?

My guess is Macy's Amex.   Contract with Visa is expiring.

Just received a notice that the new Macy's Amex should arrive by the end of September.

Other important aspects:

- still no annual fee (but I think we all expected this)

- still two separate lines of credit

- still a 1% foreign transaction fee

Re: Macy's: Visa to AmEx Conversion

There's no mention of the credit limit.  The letter mentions that there will be new account numbers - I wonder if this will mean new tradelines on our credit reports.  I had one CC transfered from one bank to another, which resulted in a new account number but no new tradeline appeared.  But this was a MC-to-MC conversion, not a Visa-to-Amex.

All online payment preferences or automatic bill payments will have to be updated.  This information will NOT be retained in the transfer.

quick question, is there any way to upgrade from a store card to an amex card without adding a new trade line?

Not at the moment. It's the same physical card for both tradelines, and I guess Macy's saves some money by using their own tradeline for inhouse sales.
