Macys amex through store

Read from threads that macys amex version can only be obtained by upgrading store card. Do anyone has idea if we can apply amex card through store? In coming holiday season i am planning to apply for macys card. Any suggest what to appy and where to applu?

When you apply for the Macys card you will automatically be considered for the American Express branded one. If you do not meet the criteria, you will only get the store card. You do not have to do it at the store, but I did.

I applied while in the store. I thought I was just applying for the regular Macy's store card. They sent me the Macy's AmEx. I have one card and two credit lines.

 

All they asked me was my SS#, household income, and mortgage payment. Easiest app I ever did.
