I had gotten an American Eagle store card, and and Old Navy, for my kids and hubby. My Old Navy started me at $200, and American Eagle at $150.00 ( I know, but Ive never had credit, trying to build!)
So, I bought a few things for Christmas on the Old Navy, and paid it off. Logged in to make sure of my 0 balance, and surprise! They had bumped me to $400 limit! Yay!
I had heard stories of American Eagle never raises limits, and I so I figured oh well, $150.00 is whatever. So I bought 1 sweater online, $24.00, paid it off. Havent bought anything else. Logged in just to check my 0 balance, as i like to make sure I dont screw myself and forget anything, and surprise again! From $150, to $600!
Just happy, small steps!
It's all about baby steps. Credit is a LONG TERM proposition (which most don't seem to understand). Not something that can be had without time and good payment history. You've got a great start. Be patient, and congrats!
@S7 wrote:Since the others did the increase on their own, I tried Lowes for an increase. Called the number listed here, and got an increase from $300 to $666. Number scared me! I thought it would be just $600! I called back, and they upped it to $700!
$666 sounds like an awesome credit limit to me. If I had this as my credit limit I would ask my creditor to never increase it

Congrats. I love reading these stories of people making their first steps in the credit world. All of us have been there at one point in our lives.
Very nice!
Moving up in the world.
Good job!
