Members: When did you open your first CC and where?

My first card was applied for and opened in 2000 while in college.  It was an MBNA card.  I applied for it on the first day of classs while heading to the student union.   I don't remember what gift, if any, that I received.

My first credit card was American Express. I applied the day of my 18th birthday, the mail came and there was a pre-approved

application with an invitation number, applied online instant approval of 1,000 for the Amex Blue. They canceled it on me in

September of this year.

I hit the ground running fast, Structure $200, Target $200, Quicken Mastercard from Citi $5000

My first credit card was a Visa issued by my parents' credit union, which I joined when I started college - same CU through which I got my Stafford loans.  $1000 credit limit.

I was finishing up my senior year of high school(April,2006) when I app'd online for a Chase Platinum(CL $500.00 and still is. go figure). This is the same card that raised my interest rate from 11% to 29% just recently, without defaulting, and keep in mind my credit history is flawless except for somewhat high utilization. As a Chase CSR once said, "Don't take it personal, it's all due to the economic situation." But, I digress.... Lol..

First card was a Capital One with a $500 limit. Dec. 1990...freshman year of college!  That was when I actually like Capital One.  Oh yeah, got a free t-shirt and coffee maker I believe!

First Card was Wells Fargo Secured Card for $1000.

Chase Manhattan BankAmericard in 1975 or '76. Credit limit was $1500, as I recall.

A year or so later, BankAmericard became Visa.

Zales and received a whopping $300, just before I proposed to DW.

MC in 1973 with a credit limit of $500 (1/2 of my gross income).
