Are you saying your son had a Visa with a $4,900 CL that got converted to a Visa Signature with a higher limit or do you mean your son's Visa Signature had a limit of $4,900?

His Chase Freedom is a Visa Signature with a CL of $4,900.

Interesting. Normally Visa Signature cards have a minimum credit limit of $5,000. Your son is the only exception I've heard of. I guess the 5k rule dosn't always apply.

I thought the same and was surprised to see that it was a Visa Signature when he showed me the card.
It's highly unlikely, but maybe Chase mailed him the wrong plastic.
You can verify that he's indeed a Visa Signature cardholder here: https://www.fandango.com/visasignature

There was another recent case posted here about the US Bank Cash Plus. The OP had applied for the Cash Plus but received the lower Flex card, with a $1,500 limit.
A few weeks later, he was sent the Visa Signature Cash Plus card, with the same account number and the same limit. He confirmed with the bank that this was not a mistake. On that thread, someone else said the same had happened to him.
