Rep: Mrs. B can I update your home phone number

Me: No I am calling to close my card

Rep: Oh no why can I ask?

Me: Chase gave me grief for having 19 cards so little by little I am pruning them back

Rep: I see maybe I can decrease your credit limit so it is not such a temptation for you.

Me: *laughing* no thank you just close the card

Rep: Are you sure I can give you a break on the APR from 22.99 to 19.99 for 5 months.

Me: Please just cancel the card. I really have not used it besides a pair of long johns for my husband; and I just paid that today. I will be pruning back the comenity cards week by week.

Rep: If you insist upon closing the card, we are sad you can not shop with us anymore. Your account is now closed.

I had an easier time closing the Capital One Partial secured.

Sounds like a pain.

As for the Orchard Brands cards, you really only need one, since they all share the same rewards program and can all be used at every Orchard Brands store (Drapers and Damons being the only exception). I have Gold Violin...works just fine at Blair, Haband, etc.

next to go will be Woman Within, Solutions, Onestop. My husband made a good point. One wallet just for Comenity cards is crazy!

Both commenity cards I closed this week let me do it via automated system. Was I supposed to actually speak to someone?
