I decided to sign up for these forums after going on a succesful app spree thanks to tips and stories I've been reading these forums.
Summary of my 2013 apps:
(For people who don't want to read my wall of text background stuff)
Barclay Rewards - Denied. Said the extended me enough credit already. Took too long for recon, didn't want another TU hardpull at the time. (JAN)
Discover IT - Approved $3000 (Early MAR)
AMEX BCE - Approved $2000 (Early MAR)
Amazon Rewards (Chase) - Approved. Temporary limit $1800 (Late MAR)
Chase Freedom - Approved. Don't know limit (Late MAR)
For some background for anyone in a similar spot as me:
Prior to this spree I have reporting:
Kay's
Discover as AU from 2002 (Took myself off in June 2012.)
Barclay Apple Financing - $5500 from my Macbook Pro purchase in December 2011 (Initial was $2900. 2 auto CLIs)
Bunch of student loans. All from the government. Grace period ends in June/October (2008 to 2012)
I applied for two cards and got them(Discover and AMEX BCE). I continued to get the app bug but wasn't sure how my credit reports looked so I signed up for AMEX's monitering service. Pulled all three reports and noticed AMEX and Discover IT weren't reporting as well as only having 1 inq on EX, 2 on EQ and 3 on TU. (Comcast on EQ about to fall off. Didn't even know they pulled me.) I decided what the hell, I'll try for 2 other cards I was interested in and got 'em both.
All instant approved. Even both Chase cards in the same day though I did one app through Amazon and one through Mastercard's site. (Wanted MC Freedom)
Income: Listed 2012 income of $15000 (Rounded down)
Rent: $325
PLUS Scores: 737 to 747 (AMEX)
FICO Scores: 715 to 745 (Different apps)
Sorry that was a bit long winded. But off to the garden with me.
Congrats, nice range of cards.
lol. Congrats on the approvals. You think that was long winded?...lol.
Congratulations on your approvals, those are great cards! And, don't forget to request a 3x CLI on that BCE card in 61 days from approval. It's a soft-pull.
Thanks to those that commented. Just wanted to mention these are all cards I looked at based on spending habits currently. I don't travel much currently, so right now I didn't see a need for an airline/travel/hotel type rewards card, for example.
I am interested to see if there is any reaction from any of the companies regarding four new accounts in a month though. I know from reading Barclay and AMEX might look into it. My history with Barclay has been perfect though. Paid off my computer 7 months before the promotion period ended and PIF since.
