NEW CARD?

I am looking to get a new card for my credit profile. I have the Citi mtvU student card at the moment which has been product changed to the regular forward card and will become active in 45 days. My AAoA is 1 year 4 months with my longest trade line being 2 years. I have had my card with citi for 7 months now. It has a CL of $800. I am also authorized on parents' Costco Amex. I applied for a CLI online and was denied, but no hard pull. I am trying to decide which card to go for next. Would it be better to go for the Chase freedom or the Bankamericard or Bank of America Student Platinum Plus. I don't want to go into student cards again, would it be better to just wait a year before going for another card?

Re: NEW CARD?

Have any idea what your scores currently look like?  That'll give us a better idea of what we could reccomend to you.

However, based on the information you gave us, provided you have 0 Inquiries on Ex, I'd say you have a fair chance at the Freedom card, or if 0 Inquries on TU for most of the Barclaycards.

Re: NEW CARD?

Both the Freedom and the 123 cash reward card from Bank of America are good choices. The freedom bonus reward is more diverse and they have extra bonus when shopping through their reward website. BoA card is more specific toward grocery and gas.

Starting Score (08/11/11): TU08: 643
Current Score: TU08: 741
Goal Score: Stay in the 700s; keep reports clean

Re: NEW CARD?

IMO...wait a litttle longer and establish more payment history.   6 months should do it!   Good luck!

I have 8 months payment history already. Do you think 12 months is good or 14 months is needed?

It is?

I was under the impression that Chase was pretty selective.

12 months with PERFECT pay history will be fine!  Patience is the name of the game!  Credit 101....don't max out your cards, pay on time and NEVER EVER apply for new credit more than once in a 6 month period.   Those rules will relax a little once your reach the upper end of the current credit score system!  It's not rocket science!  Good luck!
