Not likely but can't hurt to ask. Send a secure message and see what they have to say.

So is that 250 basically for 3k spend?
Yep.
If points from the NFCU Amex could be combined with points from a NFCU GoRewards I might actually consider this, but if not it would take me too long reach the 5000 point minimum for a statement credit (after the bonus is cashed out, of course).
This might sway me, but probably not until the end of December. Hmmm...

I'm going to have to give it a little more thought myself. My new BBVA/Compass Visa hasn't reported yet, and without it my last new additions were from back in January which might help the cause.
My TU is OK (779) but I have the $20k Platinum MC already, so with my modest income they might not be willing to approve any more. As a side-note, my CLI request on the Plat last fall was approved but went to review for several days, which makes me think I might be close to my exposure limit with them.
I know that @Anonymous mentioned before that convenience checks weren't an option with the Amex, but if balance transfers are possible that might be a good use for it (and it would give me another chance at getting the 'good' BT offers, which so far have escaped my Platinum MC).

UncleB,
@Anonymous to let you know you might be ok for a low limit AMEX from NFCU if you want it. I was approved for a 3k limit AMEX @741051.65% with a 740 score and $50k income. I also have a 20k cash rewards with a 1k balance and a 15k CLOC @Anonymous.9% with no balance. Hope this helps.
Actually that does help... thanks for the great data points!
I'm still considering it, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it or not. To reach the spend requirement for the bonus, I would have to shift spend that I currently get 3% rewards on using other cards, so the new NFCU Amex bonus wouldn't actually be a 'gain' of $250... more like $165-ish (not to mention the AAoA ding).
Decisions, decisions...
If you are a member of NFCU, their is a new reward card out.....I'm still gardening until next year so I will not be applying for this card. Just take a look at it if you guys are interesting.
