Re: NFCU CC Chances

Soooo tempted to freeze my TU and EX and apply to see if I can get something unsecured with them. I only have three inquires on EQ and now have 4 months of history with the NFCU secured nRewards. I only have two cards and would love to have a third reporting to help build.

Scupra,

I'm sure you would get approved for a good amount, just have to take the inquiry hit. As of now it looks like they used the inquiry they pulled when I opened the account 2 weeks ago.

1/16/13: TU 585, EX 525, EQ 514

I have heard they use TU for checkin/savings but EQ for credit products. I am A ok with a HP on EQ just dont need another on TU as it has 5 right now I think. NFCU is hard pull happy, I would be surprised if they used the same report they looked at to open your checkin/savings account. If they did even more congrats are in order to you! Haha have a great day.

I have the window up ready to app for the cashRewards but I think I'm too chicken! I was discharged 4 months ago and opened a secured card the day I got my discharge paperwork. I didnt even try for the unsecured, my mistake, I just wonder if 4 months of good history with them will be enough for an approval.

Re: NFCU CC Chances

I applied for the Nrewards and was declined. I have some old CC charge offs. I have no current credit cards that are active though... I think that hurt me alot. I just applied for the USAA Secured card and i guess ill just build my credit that way and apply for the NFCU card in about 6 months or so.

Starting Score: 528
Current Score: TU 563 EQ597 EX587
Goal Score: 650
Credit Cards: USAA Secured $250.00

I have heard the USAA secured card does not graduate, please correct me if I'm wrong, the NFCU secured nRewards gets a review at the 13th statement with a possible graduation. The rewards are also pretty goo. Food for thought, good luck!

Re: NFCU CC Chances

With all the bills I'm paying of this month, I don't have an extra 500 right now. Figured I would start with the usaa secured and then next month get the NFCU secured and then stick with those both for awhile until my scores get good enough for an unsecured.
