Wait, what about siblings? They count as eligible family members right? My brother is a mechanic in the Army now and I asked a CSR that when I applied and she said it was fine.

I think they have to be a member first before you're eligible through them.

Your spouse joins first(as their sibling) then you join thru spouse.

Your cousin would have to have your aunt or uncle which ever is related to your mom or dad join. Then your mom or dad has to join THEN you can join all legit.
Not too difficult, I would offer to pay the share account for all involved and ask them to hook you up.
They may come verify eligibility at some point especially when applying for any loan products. Make sure your parents and aunt/uncle have birth certificates to prove relation. I have read of it happening up to a year later after approval.
I have heard great things about NFCU. However, with the service and rates I get through Logix and PenFed I can't imagine that the hassle is worth it.
