When you say retired, is it as in he did the full 20 and gets a pension or benefits?

Re: NFCU membership question

Is he retired (ie with an army pension) or a veteran? If retired with pension, then yes. Although I would recommend he join and then you join. This way there will be no problem.

That doesn't answer the OPs question.  OP wants to know if his dad is not currently a member, is the OP eligible to join regardless since his dad retired from the military?

If his dad is retired i.e getting a pension, he is eligible. OP's dad doesnt have had to be a menber. I have read on here on several occasions where people apply and give (with permission of course) the SS  # of a parent who retired and was receiving a pension or some form of benefits

Re: NFCU membership question

I've heard it both ways directly from nfcu mouth. Best way is to have him join and get his nfcu number. Otherwise, I think you can join without dad joining, but I would make sure to have his info.
