I will find out when i get my new card (should be tonite).
I was added as an AU on my dad's account in 1979 (we still dont know how, he recieved a card several months after I was born). So my backdating should be... interesting.

My understanding is that you can backdate to the year you became a cardholder or ACM. You used to be able to backdate to the primary cardholder's MS date even if you were added as an ACM years later, but no more.

Thanks, Guys. I am going to call again in the AM, and not punch in my account#, and see if I can coonect to a rep who will let me backdate back to 1998.

I got them to resend a card that had me as an authorized user from 2010 to 1999. The card did show 1999 but it did not change on any of my credit report so its really useless.

I called 1800492334 CS number, and reached a rep(offshore) and explained that my member date was wrong, and I had a green card back in 1998, and could she look up my info to see and change. She was able to find the account from 1998, but since I was just an AU, and the account has been closed that I can not use that date, she was very dismissive about the whole idea. Should I keep calling? What should I say? Do I have any chance is getting a 98 member date? Thank, guys!
AFAIK, AMEX has stopped awarding backdating to AU accounts.

This stinks! I can see it from the CRA point of view, but it was one the big reasons why I went with AMEX.

I'm very glad they did this. As an AU it's not really your account anyways, and therefore you shouldn't be able to get backdating.

Very Glad? Wow, I think there might be 300 posts on this board about back dating as and AU. Amex gold is not a ZERO AF card, so I think we can hope for some benefits, esp. since it has been a policy for years to award AU this privilege. Thanks for your two cents .
