So early this morning I apped with Navy one month out of bk7 and got the 3-5 day message. Then this afternoon a very nice young man called and asked me for DL, SS card, and a couple of bills to prove address and to bring it into a branch. I don't mind providing all those things, but I don't know why they want me to bring it in, I was just there on the 28th depositing my paycheck and its a 40 minute drive over there.
So anyway, them asking for documents is probably a good thing, right? At least it wasn't an automatic decline. I probaby should have waited a couple more months, but I found out yesterday that my EQ had jumped up to 617 from 589, so I decided to strike before my three new cards start reporting and possibly dropping my score a bit.
I guess I should add I apped for the nRewards since it seems to be the easiest approval.
You seem to be in good shape there, wouldnt request documents if they where going to deny you
Unless you feel some kind of way about providing them with what they want, I do not see it as hurting you. More than likely, due to your score and the age of your account, they want to validate that you have sufficient income to grant you one of their credit products. It's the tradeoff for good service and one that anyone should brace themselves for if they apply. Good luck with the outcome, it seems like it would be pretty positive if you give them what they are requesting.

Its not hurting me, its just making the time to go all the way over there. I guess I'll just leave work early or take a long lunch tomorrow if I can. I'm just saying if they wanted me to prove who I am, then they could have done it when I was already there less than two weeks ago.
I understand, and I agree with what you're saying. Have you asked if you could possibly fax over what they need to save yourself the trip? I know when I first moved to where I am now, the nearest NFCU branch was about 30-35 minutes away on a good traffic day and I hated driving out there for anything. Ask if you could fax it maybe.
You should be fine, you can either fax them the documents or upload them into the secure message center if you don't feel like driving to the branch.
I asked him if I could fax or email the docs, but he said I had to go in. I started to argue that I had already been in recently, but then thought better of it. I'm the one asking for something, so I should just swallow it and comply. But I'll be really disappointed if they only give me a $500 CL after jumping through these hoops. Now if they give me a nice limit I'll be over there asking them all out for Happy Hour on me.

getting approved with NFCU is still awesome...$500 will grow fast and they don't have to approve you even if you "jump through hoops" your scores are low, but you still have a chance. So just comply and hope for the best.
