Navy Federal -Big Rewards system upgrade!

Got a notice in the mail today from NFCU about their flagship rewards. Starting May 22nd

-Earn 2points per dollar spent,

-All the points you've earned till date will be automatically doubled!

-Previous 120K per year point limit will vanish-Unlimited points, no caps

-Points never expire

-Redeming points for travel is now essentially the Capone Venture method. ($200 ticket=20,000 points, $500 ticket=50,000 points)

I've racked up about 60K points since december and just yesterday redeemed 30K points for a $499 roundtrip ticket. On one hand I'm angry at myself because in one week I could have had 120K points instead of 60K on the other hand, redeeming points for tickets becomes more expensive albeit simpler!

Is this a game changer for NFCU? I'm already struggling to distribute spending between rewards cards.

This is a game changer.... I never use my NFCU even though I have a 25k limit. Now it's about to get a lot more run. In fact. It might be my everyday non grocery or bonus catergory card. On a related note do you know the difference between the NFCU cards. I know the visa signature is a siggy but I already get those benfits from my other cards. Is there a better reward structure or something?

On another related note (no hijacking intended), traditionally their Flagship is difficult to attain, right? Meaning you usually need better CS and higher income, no?

In my Snoopy holder: NFCU Flagship Sig Visa-- $11K | Chase Freedom -- $2500 | AMEX BCE -- $2000 | Amazon Visa -- $2000 | Discover It $1500| Old Navy Visa -- $1000 | Target Red Card -- $300

TU (Disc Pull 4/29/13) -- 752 | AmexEQ (6/13/13) -- 728 | AmexEXP-- 737 | AmexTU-- 737 (5/28/13)
Goals: 740 EQ/EXP/TU

I don't think its difficult at all! I applied for it during the peak of my rebuild. I went for it specifically because it says minimum limit issued would be 5K. I didn't mind the $49 fee if it got me into the 5K club. I have since paid that fee with points and have earned $499 value in a plane ticket. Too me it was a no brainer to go for it.

Re: Navy Federal -Big Rewards system upgrade!

So do you earn points faster? Like I said I already have the high credit limit and I have the signature benefits from my other Cards like the CSP.  Is there any benefit for someone like me?

I was planning on CSP in a couple of years (or maybe a year LOL) but may just go within my NFCU portal to add another card LOL. I travel a lot during the year back home, so this might help.

Re: Navy Federal -Big Rewards system upgrade!

Looking at their site (since I don't have the card!) currently it is showing example rewards:

15K points for a $300 ticket

30K points for a $600 ticket

50K points for $750 cash back

Aren't the first two going to be exactly the same, you need to spend $15K to get 15K points (old) or 30K (new) for a $300 ticket, so that was already 2%

What happens with the cash back awards?

Need to know redemption changes as well as earning...
